OOTD: Sick Girl's Diary

I'm technically bluffing.

The outfit I am showing today was from yesterday and I have another outfit from a few days ago that I have yet shown when I first got my bangs but I was eager to get my verdict on the ASOS Curve Soft Frill Belted Dress out before I forget what I want to say about it and my bangs looked so horrible in the other photos. Pardon my pale look, I was pretty down with flu, fever, cough and bodyache but I had to go back to work to take care of some stuff. To make up for my lack in spirit, I whisked out a cute dress and was very grateful that I put on a warm cover because I felt cold the entire day.

I also wanted to gush about my necklace. You can't see it up close and personal because I forgot to take a picture of it but it was my singular, most expensive buy when I was in Paris in 2009. Later, I thought I lost it for good when I lost my luggage en route to Paris from Rome but the airlines found my luggage and redirected it back to me a month later and I was so happy to have it back in my life. The engraving on the necklace says "chaque baiser est un tremblement de terre". It is a quote from Lord Byron and means something like "every kiss is a tremble of the earth". Isn't it perfectly, wonderfully romantic and sappy?! In case you are interested, the necklace is from Sandrine Ziegler.

Verdict on the ASOS Curve Soft Frill Belted Dress:

I love the dress the moment I saw it. It is a gorgeous grey, it looks incredibly feminine with all the frills and the frills in turn, had a romantic notion that appealed to me. When the dress arrived, I was a little disappointed without even putting it on. Granted that I know that the dress is kind of chiffon-y and I expect it to be rather thin but the lining that was used on the inside feels like it is inferior and rather flimsy, something that I ,as a klutz, would rip apart. Fitting-wise, this dress is also a lot more snug and body-fitting. While I can say that I am able to fit into most of ASOS UK20 dresses but this is one dress that I am not confident of fitting myself into. Just as well that I got it in my usual UK22. Final verdict? This is a dress that is best bought during sales!

Bowdicts for the ASOS Curve Soft Frill Belted Dress:

Necklace: Sandrine Ziegler

If it's any consolation, you look cute as can be! As far as I can see, this dress fits you nicely! If I understand you correctly, you normally get a 20 but this time you got a 22? I hope you feel better soon, hun! Lets see that necklace soon! :)

Pretty Penny Mae: Aww thank you!

Evie: Yes just wait for the sales! That ring is available on ASOS in gold, silver and another colour. I just happened to find one in Singapore!

Bella: Normally I get size 22 from ASOS because I am afraid that I wouldn't fit in. I don't mind my dresses being a smudge too big IF they are just slightly too big. My theory is that I'll rather be able to wear them than not at all. Sometimes it backfires because ASOS is quite irregular with sizes so they can turn out too big. This size 22 is just nice but smaller than the other size 22s I've purchased in the past.

The dress looks great! The cardi seems to match with it perfectly and the leopard print belt adds some lovely details to the whole outfit! Also, the heart necklace is cute - I always enjoy things with clever words on them :)

JazmineKariss & Nnenna: I am also a sucker for anything that has french in it even if it is just cliche words like "oui" or "je t'aime". When i had the money to go Europe, Paris was my first choice!

laura: Thank you! I feel slightly better but am still croaking a little.

Gazel and Ariana: The dress is actually grey but it falls a little under purplish grey I've to admit!

DaniellaBella & mitten paws & Elizabeth: I usually have good things to say about ASOS Curve and I still love them dearly but there is a lining sewn inside that is of inferior quality. It is easily stretched out of shape and torn if not careful. I feel that if they had provided a better lining, I would have given just about full marks for this.

aroselikethis: No I don't think you are doing anything wrong at all and you shouldn't think so. I do a fair bit of blog hopping since I am quite the online junkie. I'm just glad to find such a fabulous lot of bloggers in such a short time.

Ashley: Secretly I think you look like the Ice Princess with a background of snow .. I wonder how you look like when Spring arrives!

Everyone else: I think i just felt better after reading all your nice little comments because they made me smile :)

I really like it! I think with the long cardigan I couldn't tell that it was too fitted for your liking. Also, I think your bangs look cute. Have you tried wearing them straight across instead of to the side? I feel like a lot of fatshion bloggers rock the long bangs look (Stephanie from le blog de big beauty come to mind). I also have the bangs. But I definitely sympathize with feeling like your hair looks bad, I had a couple of bad haircuts last year and it really, REALLY shook my self esteem.

You look absolutely lovely, D! I really love the color combo of the cardigan and dress, and if you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known that it was a bit snug. It's a very soft, feminine look (which is something I L-O-V-E!) and looks great on you. As for the bangs, I can empathize with you on that one. I, too, had my bangs cut thinking I would look great in them.. Not so much! I'm growing mine out as we speak. Great post --- oh and City Chic totally promoted you on their twitter.. Awesome!! (and well deserved!) :)
